Today was a very lovely day. The weather was perfect as it was warm yet refreshing where I live. I decided to take advantage of this by taking my boyfriend to the local park and walking around. There was a good amount of people walking around with their families and playing. It was just a great feeling to be among nature with the trees and flowers. I don’t know about you, but I am seriously in love with nature. I have been ever since I was a child. It is one of the few places that I feel that I can just be and everything will be alright. It is also one the best activities you can do without actually spending a dime so it fits right in with my budget!
My boyfriend and I had a discussion about learning to do fun things on the cheap. It really does not take very much to make us happy. After we walked through the park twice, we went to our nearest frozen yogurt place and shared a giant cup of mint cheesecake yogurt. Total expenditures for the outing: $5.42. What a deal! And the best part was we got to experience some awesome scenery while walking through the woods and just talking. If you are looking for something free to do, I highly encourage you going to your nearest park and taking a stroll. Not only will you save money, but you will get fresh air and exercise at the same time.
Unfortunately, we live in a culture that doesn’t always appreciate the little things. Many would rather blow cash (or use their credit card) on something that they will forget the next day. Its a little sad when you think about it. It made me think of all the the things that are cheap or almost free to do when you are on a budget: I used to love going to the public library as well and get my magazine and book fix. I think I am going to start doing that again too. Am I dorky? Maybe, but I am the dorkiest saver on the block!
How do you have fun when you are on a budget? I’d love to hear your ideas.
