Finally Decided to Take a Mini Vacation

Okay, so I have finally made the decision to take a vacation. I will be leaving Friday morning to go to the beach and I will be gone all weekend. I will be staying with a friend and I am even renting a car to get there. Don’t worry because it is a very economical car and I got a great rate. I have been going back and forth of whether or not to spend a little bit of money and take a mini vacation even though I really need a break. Work has been hectic. My tutoring schedule has been crazy, and I have NOT taken a vacation out of town in some time (like years). I guess I just have some guilt over spending anything that is not absolutely necessary right now-especially when there is money to be saved and so forth. An attitude like this, I know, can be very self-destructive so I am trying to be sensible about it.

On another note, I will be taking a road trip by myself to the beach. I think a few days away from your partner is great for everyone. Its important to have some time to yourself at least in my opinion. It gives you time to just be. Although things are great with us, it will give us both an opportunity to do some things that we have been wanting to do. I know we will miss each other and it will serve as a way of reinforcing our relationship. I feel especially fortunate that we have a relationship that can sustain this. Also, I will be taking my first blogging vacation in months pretty much since I started this blog. I love writing but I need to just hang out on the beach, and I don’t know if I will have time to blog. Therefore, I will see you guys next week. Wish me luck. Have a great week!

In reply to your question, I think taking breaks is good if it works for you, and I know many people do exactly what you are doing. For myself, I prefer to travel with my husband. I had enough years of traveling alone and I only kind of enjoyed it.

Oh, I am ALL FOR TIME ALONE!!! Yessiree! While I love my husband dearly, I really do love my time alone. I know some people really aren't comfortable being alone – which I think is kinda weird. I have hobbies, like to read, can go where I want when I want, etc. I actually have an upcoming vacation in FL in a month. The husband and I will go down for a week together, then he leaves and I have a few days alone before my girlfriends come down. Although they are trying to horn in on my "alone days" and I don't know how to politely tell them "NO!" (they want to come a day earlier than invited – I guess better airfare or something). Anyways, I think the time away/apart is good for any relationship – so have a GREAT TIME and don't feel guilty! ENJOY, RELAX! I'm all for it!

I usually feel guilty about taking a vacation because I know all that money could be saved instead. But you're mental health is so important and you deserve a vacation! I've never taken a vacation by myself before. I guess the only time I went anywhere on my own was to this film festival in Saskatchewan for a weekend. I didn't think I'd like traveling alone but it was actually great and really pushed me to be more outgoing and meet new people. Have a great trip!

I am glad it made you a more outgoing person. I am hoping it will do the same for me. I didn't really talk about this in the post but another reason I am going is because I think going out on my own will help my self confidence and make me rely on myself more. Never a bad lesson to learn (or re-learn).
